Women’s
Peace Gathering in Los Angeles Bares All for Peace
On Sunday,
March 2nd, 2003 a group of 55 women gathered in solidarity for women
affected by war, on a mountain-top above Topanga Canyon, Los Angeles to
illuminate love for peace by spelling out “PEACE” with their naked
bodies. The event included the presence of noted activists, musicians,
and community leaders. A silent walk in remembrance of the victims of
war led to a meadow where women called for healing the human spirit
through readings, music, and ritual.
"The Women's
Sacred Peace Walk and Ritual" was created in conjunction with Baring
Witness, a worldwide pro-peace movement founded by Donna Sheehan (www.baringwitness.org).
Aloma
Ichinose, who recently photographed the International Women's Peace
Conference in Geneva, captured the event.
